How U.S. Travel Policies Change in the Biden-Harris Era
Travel executives will witness policies from the White House that will renew their hopes that the world will become more open and safer from the pandemic after the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Within the first few days, President Biden will overturn Trump’s travel ban from Muslim-majority countries and kickstart the economy with his $1.9 trillion plan aimed at aiding businesses and consumers affected by the pandemic. Hotels Seek to Boost COVID Vaccine Rollout
To aid the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, the hotel industry is offering its services to the incoming Biden-Harris administration. The president and CEO of American Hotel & Lodging Association, Chip Rogers, recently wrote a letter detailing why hotels are well-positioned to help. Among his arguments, Rogers states that hotels have enough reach to touch all Americans; they have more spaces that are conducive to social distancing; properties already operate on a 24-hour schedule, unlike typical pharmacies and doctors’ offices; and many hotels have large parking lots and are located near highways – making them easily accessible. In a Career of Firsts, Yet Another for Events Industry Pioneer Carol Wallace
Carol Wallace was recently named the inaugural PCMA Groundbreaker, an award that honors industry trailblazers who have made a significant contribution to their organizations and programs that advance inclusion and equity. CES 2021 Goes Virtual to Mixed Reviews
The Consumer Electronics Show, the most important event in the tech industry usually taking place each January in Las Vegas, kicked off the year with the newest trends in tech – this year it was virtual. The event took place from January 11-14 and included its usual round-up of exciting innovations and announcements from over 2,000 exhibiting companies. At the conclusion of the event, it was announced that CES broke the record for largest virtual tech industry event to date.
