Here are just a few things we're looking forward to most once our team arrives in Germany next month:
Celebrating women in the industry
As a part of its EduMonday event happening the day before the conference (May 14), we're thrilled to learn that IMEX Frankfurt will be hosting She Means Business, a brand new conference for meeting and event strategists, both female and male, to collaborate with and learn from inspiring speakers on crucial issues facing women in the meetings industry. That Monday afternoon, attendees will hear from speakers and panelists, and will participate in a round table discussion to discuss these issues.
It's no secret that women in events face many challenges today, including being a minority when it comes to leadership roles despite making up a majority of the industry's workforce. Kerstin Wünsch, editor-in-chief of tw tagungswirtschaft (who is a partner of She Means Business), says this about the event: "We believe the sharing of experiences and opinions is the most powerful way for women to talk to each other and to men, to encourage working together to achieve diversity and gender equality."
Way to go, IMEX!
Answering your GDPR questions
Believe it or not, by the time IMEX Frankfurt is here, the GDPR (or General Data Protection Regulation) May 25 compliance deadline will be the following week! While many event planners will have had months to prepare, we're certain it will still be a hot topic of conversation next month and that some will still have some questions about how the new regulation will affect their organizations and their event planning.
That's why Paul Harris, etouches' resident SME, will be presenting his session "GDPR: The steps event planners need to follow" not once, but twice during the conference. He'll also be talking about GDPR each day at IMEX Frankfurt at our booth, #E670. Check out all the times you can get your top GDPR questions answered here.
The theme of "Legacy"
Earlier this year, IMEX announced that its Talking Point for 2018 will revolve around the theme of Legacy. This theme will be evident at its Frankfurt event in May, as well as IMEX America come October. About the "Legacy" theme, IMEX Group's CEO Carina Bauer says: "While the meetings and events industry has been evolving, over the past five years we’ve seen a shift away from planning an event around a 'single moment in time' towards planning an event with longer-lasting, more meaningful impacts – impacts that can be seen long after the event has ended."
Specifically at IMEX Frankfurt, be on the look out for the Legacy Wall in Hall 9. The conference is encouraging organizations attending the event to share a legacy they are working on in their home country or one they are bringing to the show, like building a fully sustainable stand or collecting books to donate to schools.
Make a note to stop by the etouches booth #E670 to learn about the latest event tech innovations and don't forget to book your 1-on-1 appointment with a member of our team! See you in Frankfurt!
