Significant Recovery Expected for Exhibitions as Soon as Late 2021: Industry Trade Group UFI Study
The latest data from UFI shows a correlation between the fate of the exhibition industry and a successful rollout of the vaccine, however CEO of UFI Kai Hattendorf argues exhibitions are already safe – people just need to get on board. With the rise of COVID-19 variants, many have been left wondering if the vaccine will still keep its efficacy. This coupled with the slow rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine suggests that the vaccine may not be the only solution to getting the exhibition industry back on its feet. Hattendorf states that the exhibition industry has had the capacity to for COVID safety and thus was the reason for Germany making a distinction between banned mass gatherings and permitted planned events. Live-Event Industry Offers COVID-19 Vaccination Infrastructure, Venues, and Staff in Letter to President Biden
On Tuesday, major live-entertainment organizations – AEG, Broadway League, IAVM, Live Nation and many others – wrote a letter to President Biden offering their venues, staff, and expertise to the COVID-19 vaccination effort. This industry is at a unique position to help, as the pandemic has shuttered its operations and their employees are eager to help and get back to work. In a tweet before the letter was received, Live Nation's CEO Michael Rapino wrote, “If the live event industry was tasked with vaccination distribution, we would have it done in a weekend, sold t-shirts and beer and a meet and greet with Fauci.” Read the full article here.
